There is nothing quite like the sound of a swinging Big Band playing full-tilt music.
The Blue Jazz Band is a Big Band dedicated to playing more ambitious Big band compositions and arrangements that are from the modern era, such as those by Gordon Goodwin, Michael Bublé, and Brian Setzer.
The instrumental lineup of a Big Band is typically composed of 17 musicians, divided into four sections (not counting any vocalists):
- five saxophones
- four trombones
- four trumpets
- rhythm section of guitar, piano, double bass (or electric bass), and drums
Blue Jazz Band Rehearsals are held on most Friday mornings from 10:0 a.m. to noon at the Roswell Adult Recreation Center, 830 Grimes Bridge Road, Roswell, GA 30075.
Membership in the Blue Jazz band is by invitation only.
